Round Two Begins

Manda was back in Houston yesterday at MDAnderson for bloodwork. We're praying that her magnesium is up, as magnesium is critical for heart health and heart health is on the line already with the type of chemo that she's undergoing. We're praying for Cindy, too, who is with her and being such a great mom and cheerleader.

On huge positive was that Manda got to come home this last weekend for some much needed R&R. After living out of suitcases for the past month, it's so nice to switch out clothes and other things for the upcoming weeks. Also, Aiden was just precious and is at such a cute, fun age. Chad and I got to spend lots of time over there and it really makes you realize the importance of family. We have some video and will post it as soon as we can.

More updates coming soon!

Little Things

Every now and then I've decided to post things that are light and happy - because there's no way to make it through this process without a few good things sprinkled in. Right now, my good thing is Brooke Waggoner, an incredibly talented and sincere artist who my sister Jenny discovered. Jenny is also one of my good things. So I thought I'd share one of my favorites by her:

Preparing for Houston!

I'm excited to get to see Manda and Aaron and Aiden this weekend and into next week. We'll be in Houston as official cooks and caretakers while Ed and Cindy get a much-deserved and needed break. As Manda gets ready to start her second round of chemo, I'm reading a lot about diet and homeopathic strategies to improve the quality of life for chemo patients. So far, there's a lot of information out there and I'm trying to sift through to the good stuff. Looks like I'll be stopping by Central Market to buy 100% prune juice, ginger root, fresh grapefruit, and Chai Tea.

And organic talapia for dinner =)
